Shanghai International Arbitration Center (SHIAC)

Shanghai International Economic and Trade Arbitration Commission (Shanghai International Arbitration Center, “SHIAC”), established in 1988, is one of the first arbitration institutions dealing with international arbitration cases in China. SHIAC successively established the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Court of Arbitration, the Shanghai International Aviation Court of Arbitration, the BRICS Dispute Resolution Center Shanghai, the China-Africa Joint Arbitration Shanghai Center, the Assets and Equity Exchange Arbitration Center, and the Data Arbitration Centre to explore commercial dispute resolution in certain professional fields and geographical areas.

Users from over 80 countries and regions around the global have participated in the procedures administered by SHIAC. SHIAC’s arbitration awards have been recognized and enforced in more than 50 countries and regions in accordance with the New York Convention. SHIAC’s Panel of Arbitrators is constituted by 1115 arbitrators, among whom 829 are from China (including 75 from Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR and Taiwan region), and 286 are from foreign countries. Arbitrators from Hong Kong SAR, Macau SAR, Taiwan region and foreign countries take 32.38% of the panel. All the arbitrators come from 80 countries and regions around the world, including 38 countries along the Belt and Road Initiative.

SHIAC received the “Award for An Arbitral Institution that Impressed the Past Year” by the Global Arbitration Review in 2016 and the runner-up of its “Annual Award for the Best Innovation in Arbitration”, as the only arbitration institution in China gaining such honor so far. SHIAC is one of the five international commercial arbitration and mediation institutions included in the Supreme People’s Court’s “One-Stop” Diversified Mechanisms for Resolving International Commercial Disputes.

Shenzhen Court of International Arbitration

SINGAPORE CHAMBER OF MARITIME ARBITRATION (SCMA)

The SCMA was originally established in November 2004 and was under management by the Singapore International Arbitration Centre (SIAC). Acting on industry feedback, the SCMA was reconstituted in May 2009 as a company limited by guarantee started functioning independently. The aim of the SCMA is to provide a framework for maritime arbitration which is responsive to the needs of the maritime community. Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI)

The Thai Arbitration Institute (TAI) founded in 1990. It was originally named Arbitration Office under a supervision of the Ministry of Justice. According to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand B.E. 2540 (1997), administrative office of the court has been separated from the Ministry of Justice. Office of the Judiciary has been constituted as an official organization independent from the Ministry of Justice and is empowered to discharge the duties of the Court of Justice pursuant to the Judicial Administration of the Court of Justice Act B.E. 2543 (2000).

Now TAI of the Office of the Judiciary is an intermediary in fostering and promoting arbitral proceedings in Thailand, providing legal consultation to both public and private sectors.  For over 27 years of experiences and expertise in handling arbitral proceedings, TAI has been trusted for reputation, neutrality and efficiency in shepherding the parties successfully through arbitration process and assisting the arbitral tribunal in carrying out proceedings with convenience, effectiveness, and legitimacy.

Because of funded by the government, TAI provides administrative services free of charge which means parties to an arbitral proceeding administered by the TAI pay no institutional fee. The parties are responsible for only the actual expenses in conducting arbitral proceedings such as expenses for delivering documents, production of media recording testimony. Know more

Thailand Arbitration Center

Arbitration in Thailand has established after Arbitration Act B.E. 2530 (1987) has came into force in B.E. 2530 (1987). Arbitration is a process of commercial dispute resolution which is simple, fast and less expensive. It will assist reduce cases that brought to the court so that judicial proceeding in general has been developed. The government was well aware of the importance of arbitration so the establishment of Thailand Arbitration Center has been one of the essential and necessary policies. The standard of arbitration in Thailand has to improve to meet international standard in order to be the center of arbitration. Know more

Tokyo Maritime Arbitration Commission
