SETTLEMENT OF NATIONAL AND INTERNATIONAL INVESTMENT DISPUTES: PRESENT AND PROSPECT

Investment has and will be an essential sector that will support Indonesian economy. The present administration has been struggling hard to attract investment by, among others, easing various licenses that would hamper the investment flow.

Investment will indeed support economic growth. However, investment will also bring disputes. The availability of dispute settlement mechanism would then be critical in providing a satisfactory settlement to the parties.

In commemorating its 42nd anniversary, BANI initiates to hold an international seminar titled “Settlement of National and International Investment Disputes: Present and Prospect.” The main topic discussed in the seminar is to see the present settlement of investment disputes in international forum, especially in ICSID and the settlement in the arbitration institution in Indonesia viz., BANI Arbitration Centre. The topic would also try to see the future of investment disputes in Indonesia.
